Beit BINA: A New Home for Jewish Study, Action, and Community in Israel

תל אביב מצוירת באנר 1

Background: The Need for a Home

BINA has had a home in south Tel Aviv since 2006. We quickly outgrew our original space (next to the Central Bus Station) which no longer had room for our ever-growing body of thousands of students, participants and beneficiaries. Recognizing this need for more space and our service to the community, the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo granted BINA a multibuilding campus in south Tel Aviv.

The Site

The city of Tel Aviv-Yafo generously provided buildings in its Ganei Teva (Nature Gardens) for BINA to create a new campus in the heart of southern Tel Aviv. Ganei Teva was the original site of Tel Aviv University and the city’s botanical gardens remain located there today. The site is perfectly situated among the southern Tel Aviv neighborhoods where BINA volunteers serve.

Our Plan

Beit BINA will be a home for: Limud (Study) - Jewish learning for thousands of local residents and students from across Israel and the Jewish world Tikkun Olam (Social Action) - Community action and volunteerism to strengthen and support the underprivileged populations of Israel, and serving tens of thousands of residents of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Kehilla (Community) - Public events to mark and celebrate Shabbat and Jewish-Israeli holidays, drawing thousands of Israelis and Tel Avivians from diverse backgrounds. Teva (Nature) – Jewish-environmental education that utilizes innovative methods to study and practice Jewish values and environmental concepts of sustainability.

The Beit BINA Campus Will Include:

• 6 buildings as well as outdoor green spaces • Beit Midrash (study hall) • Library • Social hall and multi-purpose center • Classrooms and study spaces • Faculty lounge and administrative suites • Community garden and outdoor activity area
